About
Jennifer Berg is a professional violinist and private studio instructor in violin and viola. A tenured member of the Ann Arbor Symphony and Flint Symphony, she also performs regularly with the Lansing Symphony and other professional ensembles. With the Ann Arbor Symphony String Quartet, she develops and performs chamber music concerts for schools and events throughout southeast Michigan.
Jennifer is originally from the Twin Cities area of Minnesota, where she completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota with Sally O’Reilly. At the University of Michigan, she earned her Masters in Violin Performance with Stephen Shipps. Jennifer served as concertmaster at both UM orchestras and has performed with the New World Symphony. As a soloist, she won the MNSOTA Competition Collegiate Division and was a National Finalist in the MTNA Competition in Toronto. During summer seasons, she has performed in music festivals in Santa Barbara (CA), Breckenridge (CO), Colorado Springs (CO), Chautauqua (NY), Medomak (ME), and Pilsen (Czech Republic).

A dedicated educator, Jennifer loves sharing music with students of all ages. Her passion for teaching began at a young age guiding her sister and grew during summer festivals teaching students in a variety of settings. At the University of Minnesota, Jennifer completed violin pedagogy studies with Sally O'Reilly and all levels of Suzuki training. Jennifer has been teaching violin professionally since 2013 having been an instructor with the Sphinx Overture program in Flint, the Interlochen Center for the Arts with Ann Arbor High School Orchestras, the Cultural Arts String Camp in Manchester, the Novi High School Orchestras, and Expressions Music Academy. She currently maintains an active private teaching studio of violin and viola students in Farmington Hills, MI.
